Monhegan

Monhegan famously has two seasons. One is the artists’ season from May to October when as many as a hundred visitors per day come to explore the numerous artist galleries within walking distance of the mailboat landing. The other is the lobster season from December to May, when the island’s dozen fishermen set their traps in the exclusive Monhegan lobster territory within two miles of its rocky headlands.
