Over half of Isle au Haut is a remote outpost of Acadia National Park where trails and walking paths allow daily visitors to explore the undeveloped southern reaches of the island. The settled part of the town is arrayed primarily along the Isle au Haut Thorofare at the north end of the island where a one-room school house, a small store and a beautiful small library are all located along the waterfront.
